Bobochic structures its hypergrowth business with Qlik

When the Bobochic team launched the brand a year and a half ago, they probably had no idea how meteoric its success would be. Initially, the company’s business was 100% focused on selling furniture to B2B buyers. But, keen to diversify in the middle of the Covid-19 health crisis, the company bet on launching a new brand aimed at B2C. That is how Bobochic was born. Still, the company was on familiar ground, since this was its historical sector.

Meteoric success

Bobochic’s birth first took shape with the launch of a high-performing e-commerce platform on PrestaShop. Originally, a showcase website let distributors view the company’s products. To support the launch of the business in the B2C market, a more robust online store was needed. Bobochic was a success from day one. Customers loved the brand, to the point that it achieved double-digit growth. Against this backdrop of very strong growth, Bobochic wanted to optimize how it managed the brand, notably by making the most of its data.

Tedious use of data

“Initially, the teams handled website data directly in PrestaShop, but the tool was very inflexible and did not allow for in-depth analysis,” explains Quentin Sancho, CFO of Bobochic.

In addition, employees also processed data through one-off extracts but had to do extra adaptation work in Excel to really be able to use it. “It took up too much of our employees’ time and was a real time sink.”

Choosing a high-performing solution: Qlik

The need for a powerful data management tool quickly became clear.

“At my previous company, I already used Qlik and was happy with it. That is why choosing it for Bobochic felt natural. It is a very flexible and particularly agile solution designed for every team.”
Quentin Sancho, Chief Financial Officer, Bobochic

To be completely sure of his decision, Bobochic’s CFO still looked at other solutions, but “nothing came close to Qlik”. What particularly convinced Quentin Sancho was the tool’s ability to adapt to very diverse needs and its many customization options, which make it easy to shape the tool to fit the company. And the company chose Synolia to carry out the project.

Qlik dashboard

Better financial management

Today, three departments use Qlik at Bobochic: finance, product and e-commerce. First, finance tracks the company’s overall performance daily with comprehensive reporting. Thanks to the dashboards set up by Synolia, the team has a 360° view of the business and its main KPIs. For example, it tracks monthly revenue and compares it with targets. This allows it to adapt its strategy when needed and course-correct if it falls behind.

Qlik also enables finance to close the books on time with high-quality data. With the tool, the team saves valuable time in financial management and steers the business with precision to achieve the best possible performance.

Optimized supplier management

On the product team side, the main job is to analyze performance by supplier. This team’s goal is to recruit the best suppliers to make Bobochic-brand products and then sell them. Its role is therefore simple: attract new suppliers, qualify them, develop products with them, then launch product lines on the e-commerce site. After that, it has to analyze the success of the products developed with each supplier.

Qlik lets the product team study revenue by supplier in detail and measure whether each one is succeeding. Based on that, it can take the necessary action to run promotions around a line that is not performing, or raise the margin on products that are selling very well. The point is to adjust strategies by supplier to increase revenue and sales and offer customers the best products. This analysis is also a good way to focus on the best-performing suppliers.

In-depth product analysis

In the same spirit, the e-commerce team uses Qlik to analyze the performance of product lines and of the various sales initiatives around them. One goal: optimize sales and focus efforts where they matter so that each product sells to its full potential. The team tracks each department, sees what works and what does not, and takes the necessary action to boost sales. Among its favorite KPIs are revenue by product category or line and the results of individual promo codes.

Much more efficient teams

Since implementing Qlik, Bobochic has greatly optimized how it manages its business and sales, relying on high-quality data and concrete, objective analysis.

“All our decisions are now backed by figures and based on facts, not assumptions. When the brand launched, the teams suffered from the lack of structured data management. Today, we have reached a new level and we are much more efficient,” acknowledges Quentin Sancho.

A fast, successful rollout

Rolled out extremely quickly, in exactly one month, the Qlik project for Bobochic is delivering on its promises. Thanks to the dozen or so dashboards built by Synolia, the brand has a powerful, scalable tool that it uses every day.

What’s more, the teams opted for a prepackaged offer with predesigned templates to save time during implementation. And the tool was well received and adopted very quickly.

“A short training session was all it took for the teams to get to grips with it and make it their own,” recalls Quentin Sancho.

The next step is a deeper analysis on the e-commerce side, focused more on customer experience.

“We would like to make more use of our Google Analytics data in Qlik. We are currently working on this with Synolia.”

And there is no doubt that Qlik will meet Bobochic’s expectations, however ambitious they may be.
