A major player in home automation in Europe, Avidsen set out to rebalance its sales channels by growing the web’s share of its revenue from 30% to 50%. To accelerate its digital growth without missteps, the company entrusted Synolia with a comprehensive e-commerce consulting engagement. This collaboration validated its technical choices, optimized its internal organization, and laid out a steady, sustainable digital roadmap.
Based in Tours, France, Avidsen designs and develops connected home solutions: access control, security, and heating control. The company owns its entire value chain (hardware, software, and servers) and distributes its products across Europe. While its historical channel is big-box home improvement retail, Avidsen has built a strong online presence through its own site (Maisonic) and marketplaces. Today, the web accounts for nearly 30% of its revenue.
Facing a tougher climate for brick-and-mortar retail and the arrival of direct international competitors, management set a clear course: to have the business stand on two legs, with a 50/50 balance between physical distribution and e-commerce.
“I brought in Synolia, an e-commerce consulting agency, to accelerate our progress online. It’s not that the web wasn’t working; it was already on an upward curve. But e-commerce demands a wide range of expertise. I wanted to secure their services to validate our strategic direction and our organization.”
An audit to validate the existing setup and structure the future, with the goal of generating 50% of revenue online within three years.
To approach this new growth phase with confidence, Avidsen was looking for a partner able to conduct a 360° e-commerce audit. The goal was twofold: validate the recently launched technical workstreams (such as the migration from the legacy platform to Magento) and make sure the internal people and logistics organization was sized to absorb the increased volume.
Above all, Avidsen wanted an expert, honest, and pragmatic outside perspective to confirm that the checkout funnel and conversion rate were optimized, while identifying new growth levers. Finally, the human dimension was a key selection criterion for Avidsen: internal teams were not to see the engagement as rigid oversight, but as supportive, constructive guidance.
At Synolia, an e-commerce consulting agency, we approach every engagement with a deep conviction: the success of a digital project depends not only on technology, but on aligning business teams behind a high-performing collective. Over two months, our consultants ran cross-functional workshops with all of Avidsen’s key teams (marketing, e-commerce, IT, sales administration, customer service, and supply chain).
The engagement was built around three main pillars:
Our teams analyzed the technical ecosystem Avidsen had put in place. The audit confirmed the relevance of the new Magento architecture and of the data flows connected to the PIM. Targeted recommendations were made to streamline the user experience and maximize the site’s conversion rate.
To support digital growth, the internal organization has to keep pace. The workshops identified automation opportunities in managing logistics flows and returns. In particular, Synolia recommended integrating a conversational AI tool coupled with a ticketing system, with rollout scheduled for September.
Beyond technology, the engagement explored emerging trends. Synolia helped Avidsen assess its visibility in light of new search behaviors (LLMs). This laid the groundwork for a content strategy built for the demands of tomorrow’s e-commerce.
“From the start, Synolia told us our fundamentals were sound. That was very reassuring. They didn’t try to start from scratch, but to improve what we already had. Beyond the technical work, I particularly appreciated the consultants’ people skills. The message really resonated with my team.”
The engagement concluded with the co-creation of an operational digital roadmap for 2026. This action plan, reviewed monthly, lets Avidsen roll out its workstreams step by step, in a structured and steady way.
The benefits are already tangible: sales momentum remains excellent, with overall web growth of +12% across channels. International expansion is also continuing through marketplaces, particularly in Germany, while the direct sales site remains a strong anchor.
Thanks to this approach, Avidsen’s teams are now moving forward with strong commitment and solid digital foundations to reach their goal.
