Trigano gradually migrates from QlikView to Qlik Sense

Since 1936, Trigano has been serving vacationers around the world. The leader in motorhomes in France and Europe, the group also sells camping equipment, trailers and related services.

Always evolving, the company chose to trust Synolia and Qlik to optimize how it manages its business.

Proof of renewed trust

An e-commerce project marked the start of the collaboration between Trigano and Synolia, as Synolia first designed the Trigano Store.com site.

From the outset of the project, Synolia highlighted not only its Magento expertise but also its expertise in the Qlik solution and its prepackaged applications that help online merchants manage their business.

This added value quickly tipped the scales in Synolia’s favor. What’s more, “Budget-wise, the offer was fair, so we didn’t hesitate for long,” recalls Nicolas Cissa, Head of Web Operations at Trigano.

Analyzing e-commerce site performance with Qlik

Synolia implemented the QlikView solution, and more specifically its prepackaged application for Magento, which connects to the group’s various sites.
Initially, the tool was used by the company’s senior management, enabling executives to analyze data and measure the e-commerce site’s performance: sales analysis (revenue), identification of “best-selling” products, inventory tracking…

QlikView gave the team new visibility and made decision-making much easier. Cross-referencing all the data enables the teams to:

  • manage all site activity at a glance;
  • better understand upcoming challenges.

Deeper customer knowledge and a macro view of the market

The deeper customer knowledge the solution provides was quickly seen as essential, since it enabled management to pull the right levers to optimize purchase journeys and drive the company’s growth.

Later, access to data through the Qlik data visualization tool was gradually extended to the sales teams, with new applications and data sources beyond Magento.

This gave all subsidiaries a macro view of the market and let the various teams base their decisions on facts rather than “hearsay.”

Early 2018: discovering Qlik Sense

While QlikView met the teams’ analysis needs, they still wanted a more user-friendly solution, “more pleasant to use day to day.”

A few Qlik Sense demos were enough to win users over, and the new solution was quickly rolled out.

To make sure Trigano kept a high level of autonomy, Synolia migrated a first QlikView application to Qlik Sense and trained the in-house teams to develop and administer the new platform.

Qlik Sense vs. QlikView: what are the benefits?

Trigano sees several benefits in using Qlik Sense rather than QlikView. First, on the administration side, managing user rights is easier.

On the development side, the team appreciates how much faster Qlik Sense is than QlikView for building dashboards, as well as the integration of the “Calendar” and the various types of “Maps.” The Calendar offers more flexibility when selecting time periods, while the Maps make it possible, among other things, to display heat maps of sales regions.

As for the interface, it is unanimously described as “lighter, more modern, and better animated.”
The search engine also wins everyone over with its ease of use and intuitiveness. Overall, the solution is seen as “easier to get adopted internally.”

A constantly evolving solution

Another plus for Qlik Sense is how it keeps evolving. The teams welcome the regular version upgrades and take advantage of them to add new charts and use the new features on offer:

“We’re seeing the solution evolve nicely. It’s not static at all and regularly offers very interesting new features!” says Nicolas Cissa.

Choosing a gradual migration

Asked why Trigano chose to keep using both of Qlik’s solutions, Nicolas Cissa replies:

“The two solutions can coexist. For now, we’re adding Qlik Sense to meet new needs without completely dropping QlikView.”

He continues:

“There’s nothing in QlikView that we can’t do with Qlik Sense. If we could migrate everything to Qlik Sense tomorrow, we’d gladly do it.”

"We are delighted with Synolia’s support. The collaboration went extremely well, on both QlikView and Qlik Sense."
